The Motherboard

Tricky Walsh

The Motherboard is the central processing unit of the building, and a series of worlds. Or spaces. Or rules, or mechanisms whose tenuous connections always come back to the spatial language of Geometry. It is a circuit of objects and technology from history before everything became digital and you could still follow an electrical current’s path with your eyes.

Whether used to direct and filtrate light, heat or sound, to amplify signals from afar or to transmute from one kind of frequency to the next, the motherboard is the stuff of the universe, spilling messily outside the tidy axioms. It seeks to defy the second dimension and smash right through to the fourth and it does it with a materiality of paint, glass and wood.
