The Collector Project 9: Cutting and Grafting
Cutting and Grafting - Tasmanian Times (will leave Detached website)
The Collector Project is an ongoing collaboration by Tasmanian artists Meijers + Walsh. It is centred on a fictional character called Henri Papin – an isolated and
eccentric figure constructed from fragments of literature and film which examine the darker elements of human nature and its related psychologies.
Henri collections are of human behaviour and are constructed from moments of voyeurism, fragments of memory and found samples, distilling ‘stains of experience’ into
objects or scenarios.
The Collector Project 9: Cutting and Grafting is a series of worlds within worlds. Part foxhole, part garden shed, part sleeper cell; inhabited by both the artists themselves and the voice of the absent and fictional character, for the first time the audience are invited to explore the complex environment and communicate directly with the unconscious persona of Henri Papin.
