Established in 2008, Detached is a privately funded, not-for-profit organisation. Constructed inside the shell of a heritage listed church, it is a state-of-the-art project space, within the arts precinct of Hobart.
Focusing on the challenge, complexity and resonance of Australian and
international contemporary art Detached aims to:
- be flexible and perpetually renewing
- offer an independent platform for the
initiation and presentation of artworks to the public
- provide opportunities and support for artists,
curators, critics and scholars to actively engage with and contribute to
contemporary society
- encourage and support community education
Detached will host exhibitions and artist-in-residence programs and will work closely with the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (TMAG). |
